(The Bradens in Peaceful Harbour #1 ; The Bradens #13 ; Love in Bloom #25)

Nate Braden has loved his best friend’s younger sister Jewel Fisher for as long as he can remember, but between their age difference and his respect for Rick, he’s always kept his feelings at bay. Now he’s back in Peaceful Harbor, and Jewel is no longer sixteen years old—but there’s an even bigger obstacle standing in his way. Nate and Rick joined the military together eight years earlier. Nate came home a hero, but Rick didn’t make it out alive.

This is my first Melissa Foster book mainly because I haven’t read the other two in my Kindle… and those have been there since, like,… forever…

I’m sorry.

Let me make this review short.

It’s short, lovely and romantic and sweet and quiet…

First off, the characters were beautifully flawed. Sometimes, when people want to do something positive and have this really big fear for something, they tend to go extremes which will show the opposite result – the negative counterpart of what one intended to. Jewel was selfless (which is admirable) but extremely overprotective. I love how her character grew towards the end. Nate, on the other hand, is really caring, in general and is the perfect match for her. Okay, there was one part he should’ve came clean earlier but really, a person who pushes you to be the best you can be is all you can ever need in life. He is a great friend and heavily-burdened because of that. In the end, he changed for the better, and I love that the most about him.

I love the family aspect of this book which was well-executed and the romance was great too. I had to soak up every word to really get the feelings but it was there.

Next, the plot went on a good pace. Nothing in particular felt rushed, hurried, or too slow. Also, this is well-written. Although short, this book managed to tell a wonderful growth between everything, mainly Jewel. She evolved from who she was in a lot of aspects – family-wise, self-wise, and romantically.

Healed by Love, in overall, is a wonderful read. I would emphasize on the character growth and family aspect. Really, you cannot decide for one person or three. Remember that no matter what you think, people change, people grow, and there would be a time that you need to back up a little. Love stays if it’s true and if anything is meant to be, it’ll happen. Things happen for a reason, whether we like it or not. Also, people leave to make space for others. Life is too big to stay with the same circle. One just has to let go of the loss and remember that there are a lot of ways you can still keep this person with you. Also, don’t be scared to change. Life changes which means you also have to. This is a beautiful read about love – love for family, friends, and romance. It’s really short so I suggest you go pick this up and read it on your free time. Especially if you’re a sucker for romance with a little history. 😉
