Annalise “Leesa” Avalon never realized that one sentence could change her life until one of her students revealed his crush–and within twenty-four hours she finds herself under fire. After a grueling investigation that turns her life upside down, she steals away to Peaceful Harbor, Maryland, with a new identity to try to pull herself back together and figure out her next step.
From the outside, Cole Braden lives a charmed life. He’s a top orthopedic surgeon with a thriving practice, strong family ties, and friends he adores. But there’s a lonely spot inside Cole that no one can see. He has an enormous heart–and a painful past–but the desire to love and be loved is too strong to ignore.
A chance encounter brings Leesa and Cole together, and the attraction is immediate and intense. But a relationship is the last thing Leesa needs–and the only thing Cole wants. Long talks, heated moments, and deep connections are hard to resist, but the harder Cole tries, the more Leesa pulls away. Cole might truly be the right man for Leesa, but is Leesa the right woman for him?

Nate Braden has loved his best friend’s younger sister Jewel Fisher for as long as he can remember, but between their age difference and his respect for Rick, he’s always kept his feelings at bay. Now he’s back in Peaceful Harbor, and Jewel is no longer sixteen years old—but there’s an even bigger obstacle standing in his way. Nate and Rick joined the military together eight years earlier. Nate came home a hero, but Rick didn’t make it out alive.
I thought I was being left behind in this series (The Bradens in Peaceful Harbor) but it turns out that this is just the second book so it makes me happy that I’m not behind after all.
This is, like, fourth or third Melissa Foster book and I’m telling you to jump on this wagon too. It’s like the ultimate cliches you’ll never to be able to resist. Because they’re the ultimates.
Let’s go straight to the point.
Surrender my Love is a really sweet and emotional read. I love the characters especially Leese’s strength as a human being in general. I mean, we can’t control everything that happens to us so whether the fallback is good or not, it is up to us to choose on how to deal with it. Cole is your typical big brother all-good kinda guy. He’s so damn sweet and one can only wish for a Cole all to themselves. Really, he’s such a family oriented person, but let’s admit it, what’s not to love about the Bradens??????
I love the start of this book. I mean it might actually be my favorite part — aside from the entire book, I mean. There was this air or mystery to the both of them and I actually craved that. I mean, I didn’t know I needed it until I had it.
The plot has a common skeleton but the thing with this book is that there’s just so much emotions tied to the words. I wasn’t as emotionally invested to this book unlike in Healed by Love (because that was a real roller coaster mainly because of Jewel) but there were still so many feelings. Mainly love and heartache at the same time. The writing is amazing (never expect less from Melissa)! Plus, there are these quotable quotes that pop up to you and stay deep in your soul. (I have to go editing stuff for WFW soon !!)
Overall, Surrender my Love is a masterpiece of all drama romance and everything contemporary. It’s so cliche you love it before you even start. I mean, I did. There’s just something mystical about the idea of wanting to start over after having your life ruined to pieces. In the end, we may be a little blind of everybody because of a (false) familiarity. It was the only thing you know so you stick with it and ignore the feeling of something missing. Life is not about contentment. Life is about always chasing the spark, the meaning of how you live. And sometimes, you just have to give in – give in to love.
